Knitting design and decisions and writing

Today I am hard at work on a hat design which should be ready to share this month.  You may remember it from such disasters as Not Doing A Gauge Swatch*:

* I really need to do another post on the importance of gauge swatches so I remember why I should do them before I start working up a new idea instead of after I've frogged twice.

There is so much I love about designing things, and especially hats, and I'd forgotten a lot of them over the past year or so that I stopped having time to do it.  One of them may or not be decision-making... it's too soon to tell for sure.

One thing I do know is that returning my attention to writing is the best thing that's happened to me on the hat front.  The ideas just keep coming!  In addition to September's three hats, I have two more jostling around in my head and demanding to be knit, preferably with yarn I've shopped for and bought for the purpose.

Anything but write the stuff I'm supposed to have ready before the workshop starts because old habits: so hard to break.

And the distractions aren't limited to those hats - oh, and the rest of yesterday's handwarmers which I still haven't frogged because I've been trying to exercise some degree of restraint on projects in progress - it's the top of this one.

Three options are looking pretty attractive for how to finish this thing off.

Swirl?

Tail?

Bow?

I have a terrible feeling I'm going to try all three before I decide.  Like I said: there is nothing like writing deadlines for making a girl want to knit.

Hope your day is productive in a less torment-y way than mine, and I'll see you tomorrow!
