Good things on a Wednesday?

Wednesdays are usually a completely bleh day for me what with being the middle of the week and all, but yesterday: primo.

My latest knitting project bag from tiny happy arrived and included bonus vintage embroidery wool because Somebody, bless her, knows how obsessed I've been with embroidery since discovering her blog.

And I had a lightning bolt moment that showed me how to make the Thing I saw in a grainy old movie a few days ago and wanted immediately to knit.

And somebody invited me to knit something I am going to absolutely love working on.

And: I finished knitting the monkeys! Of course I still need to run in all the ends and block them etc. but yes. Done! Sitting in the new tiny happy bag with darning needles and scissors, matching the lining fabric (red and white check) in the most fetching way.

Not to mention much tea and chocolate. Really it's a day I could completely stand reliving, and that's a very rare thing, isn't it.

Ok. This may seem like a dumb question, but I have never blocked socks. I've made about 4 pair. I machine wash and air dry on a drying rack, but I've never blocked them. How do you do it?

I guess block is kind of a misnomer here - I put them into a bowl with some Soak (I like that 'cos you don't have to rinse it out after), roll them in a towel to blot, and set them on a blocking mat to dry, or flip them over the bottom of a plastic hanger like you do. But with these ones, because of the wild stitch pattern, I might use the blocking mat and pins because I want to see at least the first time whether I can make the leg just the teensiest bit longer ;^)

Do you need to do this each time the socks are washed? You've been such an educator to me!

I do the pinning every time I wash something that needs that (like a shawl) but I'm hoping these socks won't! If they do though, they will totally be worth it... I can't believe how nice they feel on.
