Sunday sunshine

I can't wait till Monday to show you a little of what yesterday looked like.

There was:

1/ In-car knitting

2/ Well-cover shopping (sample under the yellow-green tree)

3/ Cottage-lake sitting

 On three: ahhhhhhh

(today is much more overcast.  perfect match for staying in and baking a spiral ham.  happy thanksgiving if you're having one!)

Mary, have you ever considered knitting socks and mitts with 5" needles? I never did until a friend said there was nothing like it.I got myself a complete set and never looked back. I am a BELIEVER! So much easier and faster. Just saying.

Darlene - 5" double points, you mean? I bought a set like that last spring when I couldn't get anything longer in the square needles I'm now in love with, and they are fantastic especially in busy places and a crowded bag! So compact. I do find I have to be careful putting them away though because picking up stitches upon picking up knitting is a less than peaceful way to start ;^)

Hoping you had a Happy Thanksgiving!

I did, thanks, and I still get to: bonus holiday day today! I am just about to knit a hat while listening to an audiobook. bliss :^)

Double point needles, yes. Get some extra large point protectors or some tiny rubberbands. Even small round stitch markers work. I have use them all. They work like a charm. I use them on just one side and all 4 or 5 needles can be shoved into one protector. Voila, no more dropped stitches.

Tiny rubberbands - that reminds me! Elizabeth Zimmerman shared a tip for using ponytail holders for this and it works like a charm, plus: no snags. Off to snap one onto my travel knitting right now. thanks!!

Hopefully they won't slide off...rubberbands are stickier.

Darlene, if you're ever stuck using a ponytail holder the sneak is: double or triple it up till it's got a good (but not crazy tight) squeeze on the sock. Works like a charm!
