Cheery-uppy socks

Just popping in quickly today to show you pictures of the Cheery-Uppy Socks.

They are expanding slowly but surely with their practically invisible stripes...

Growing with nothing more than an hour or so's knitting every evening, in a way that illustrates the striping serves no decorative purpose at all.  I might as well just colourblock to get the length I need, thereby reducing the number of ends to run in...

But of course they are fast: they are practically DK weight, not fingering.  DK weight yarn is the friend of the impatient knitter.  Go DK!

(also, they are cheering me up.  but I am seriously considering colourblocky socks after this.)

Thanks Lauren - they are nice and squishy in person, too :^)

It helps me a LOT to have a fan running during the night for a little 'lull me back to sleep' noise. (also helps me NOT hear the sounds coming from hub's nose/mouth:-)

When that fails...I just get up, watch some dvr recordings and/or knit. Sometimes I just can't get back to sleep. Luckily, I'm retired and don't have to be up at any set time!

But...insomnia...GO AWAY!!

Kay, I once had a friend in her 80s whose insomnia was so disastrous she just went with it and played cards with her husband till 4am every morning (something I discovered only after I returned a call from her at 10am one morning, ahem) At the time it seemed strange to me but now I totally get it!
