Knitting a Noro cowl

I finished the Noro cowl I was experimenting with:

I had a lot of fun building the lace pattern but it's so not enough to stand up to these stripes.  And I'm not sure about pairing a ribbed end with a rolled one, either.

Maybe it's better upside down?

Or... not?

Ugh.

On the one hand, a cowl just ends up being a warm thing around your neck that nobody can see the stitch on anyway, but on the other... really?  this is the best I can do?

I think I need to start over.

Just... not today, because: Socks!

(say what you like about knitting socks - I'm looking at you, Trish - they're the one thing I almost never get wrong any more.)

Have a terrific weekend everybody, and I'll see you again on Monday!

As I just spent over an hour undoing the extra inch I knit on the plain brown socks I'm working on (picking up the stitches was a pain with the somewhat splitty yarn...), I'm going to say we'll have to agree to disagree. I couldn't even bring myself to work on them during my 20+ hour drive this week! These stupid socks may be in permanent hibernation...
Happily, I'm going to cast on a baby blanket in lovely soft cotton next...
